How To Choose A Great Spot For RTK Reference Station?

To ensure your RTK station receives a strong, reliable satellite signal choose an optimal location for both the charging station and the RTK reference station.

  1. Keep the station at least 2 meters away from buildings, trees, walls, and other large obstacles.
  2. Place the charging station on a flat surface with the antenna mounted upright—never tilted or angled.
  3. When installing the RTK reference station, position the antenna so it points straight up and remains unobstructed by leaves, chimneys, poles, or other structures. For best performance, ensure the antenna has an unobstructed sky view of at least 110°.
  4. Allow at least 10 cm of clearance behind the charging station and 1 meter of open space in front to ensure smooth docking of the device.
  5. Avoid locations near sprinklers, fountains, or other outdoor water sources to prevent water damage.
  6. Keep the station well away from electrical interference sources—including substations, generators, water pump stations, and air conditioning units.
